The man who killed a Serra Catholic student in a violent van crash in Dravosburg in 2023 has been sentenced to up to 12 years behind bars.

William Soliday of North Huntington pleaded guilty Tuesday to third-degree murder for causing the crash that killed 15-year-old Samantha Kalkbrenner.

Another defendant in the case, Andrew Voigt, is awaiting trial on lesser charges including leaving the scene of an accident and racing.

Witnesses say that Voigt and Soliday were racing, reaching speeds over 100 mph as they sped through McKeesport in the moments leading up to the crash.
