
Pittsburgh Public Safety has announced River Rescue was able to locate a firearm matching the description of the gun used in Friday’s shooting outside a funeral that injured six.
The firearm was thrown off the McKees Rocks Bridge by suspect, 16-year-old Hezekiah Nixon.
He and 19-year-old Shawn Davis are charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and other charges.
Officers say David also had a gun, but he dropped it on the bridge.
Pittsburgh Police say the weapon had one bullet in the chamber and was reportedly stolen in Shaler Township.
Officials say the investigation is still in an its “active phases” and more details will be released in the coming days.
The McKees Rocks Bridge was closed for about an hour during the investigation.
Six people were shot outside the Destiny of Faith Church in Brighton
Heights Friday afternoon shortly after noon.
The church in the 3700 block of Brighton Road was holding a funeral for John Hornezes, Jr.
The 20-year-old Hornezes was shot and killed on Cedar Road on Saturday, October 15, 2022.
Two women waiting at a bus stop near the Sunoco station on Cedar
Road were also killed that night.
Six victims were taken to area hospitals. Five people are being treated at Allegheny General Hospital, and one victim is now at UPMC’s Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Officials say there is a possibility there was more than one shooter and they believe the victims may have been targeted.
