Vice President Kamala Harris campaigned at IBEW Local Union No. 5 on the South Side Monday afternoon.
Speaking to a crowd of hundreds of local union workers Monday, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris began her remarks by saying, “I love Labor Day, I love celebrating Labor Day and Pittsburgh, of course is a cradle of the American Labor movement.
And, with the proposal to sell U.S. Steel to a Japanese company on the table, Nippon Steel, Harris made her stance clear.
“U.S. Steel should remain American owned and American operated.”
Harris also took time to praise current President Joe Biden and his support of unions. Biden joined Harris on stage during the event.
“When the stakes were high, when the heat was intense, Joe Biden has always stood with the workers of America,” said Harris.
And, Harris is returning to Pittsburgh Thursday. Details are not available yet. It will be her 10th visit to Pennsylvania this year.
