Health Department shuts down Pittsburgh breakfast/lunch spot

A restaurant on Pittsburgh’s South Side has been ordered closed after an inspection by the Allegheny County Health Department.

The Health Department’s website says Chace’s Dining Hall on the 300 block of East Carson Street was closed after an inspection on October 1 found lack of proper plumbing and operating without a Food Safety permit.

An inspector found the restaurant is operating without a three-bowl sink to wash, rinse and sanitize and that there wasn’t any sanitizer in the building. There is also no dedicated handwashing sink.

A report shows that the facility didn’t submit any plans before opening, failure to obtain a final plumbing inspection from ACHD Plumbing Program and is operating without a safety permit.

Chace’s Café serves breakfast and lunch.

Any updates to the closure will be posted on the County’s website.
