A beer distributor in Southwestern PA has been ruled ‘out of compliance’ after state officials found a few violations during an inspection.

The Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety says Penn Beverage on 8th Avenue in Beaver Falls was hit with three “risk factors” after an inspection on Thursday.

Inspectors say that the slushy nozzles on four machines, used to dispense frozen alcoholic drinks had “black residue and was not clean to sight or touch.”

The machines were turned off and drained during the inspection.

Other issues include unfinished walls inside the walk-in cooler. Inspectors says the walls are flaking and are not smooth and easily cleanable. That was listed as a repeat violation.

Also, some non-food contact surfaces were not being cleaned frequently, leading to an accumulation of dirty, also a repeat violation.

Canned and bottled beer is not affected by any of the violations and the distributor is able to continue to operate while out of compliance.

A follow-up inspection is planned within 10 days.
