The Public Utility Commission is holding public hearings next month on a proposed rate increase for more than a half-million Pittsburgh Water customers.
The utility is asking for a 33 percent increase over two years to pay down debt. If the rate request is approved, the average residential bill would increase from $100 a month to $123 next year and $135 in 2027.
Two in-person meetings for public response are scheduled on Tuesday, August 12 in the Hill District and Hazelwood.
The next day, the PUC will host two telephone hearings.
Two in-person public meetings will take place on Aug. 12, the first at 1 p.m. at the:
Jeron X. Grayson Community Center, 1852 Enoch St. in the Hill District; the second at 6 p.m. at the Hazelwood Healthy Active Living Center, 5344 Second Ave.
