Starting September 1, 2025, kids 17 and under will get free admission to the Heinz History Center in perpetuity.
That's after an $11.5 million grant from Dan and Carole.
Carole Kamin says she hopes this gift will make it easier for teachers to take whole classes to the Center and will remove financial barriers for families.
She also hopes this will lead to others doing something similar at other local museums.
Chairman and CEO of the Heinz History Center Andy Masich says it's important for children to get free admission calling them the building blocks of society.
“Helping those kinds get familiar with their history and civics, that’s going to make a generation of informed citizens that care about their community,” said Masich.
Masich says the gift from the Kamins is the most significant contribution in they've ever received.
