State Troopers in Washington County are asking for help after a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 70 left a female in serious condition.
PA State Police Troop B says it happened around 11:20 a.m. near mile marker 16.
A white transport van was driving westbound on I-70 when, according to the driver, a “large, sharp piece of metal” flew off a black pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer traveling in front of the van.
The piece of metal went through the van’s windshield and hit a passenger in the second-row of the van.
The female was treated at the scene before being flown to the hospital in a medical helicopter.
The black pickup truck did not stop after the crash.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call PSP Washington at 724-223-5200. The truck may also have flags attached to the flatbed trailer.
The accident caused heavy delays on the highway.
