A hockey mom is facing assault charges after and incident and a teenage referee at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Complex in Neville Island earlier this month.
According to court records, 38-year-old Andrea Bucci of Franklin Park is also banned from the sports complex in addition to the assault charges.
It happened after the referee ejected her son from a hockey game on July 20 for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Attorney Phil DiLucente, representing Bucci, tells KDKA Radio that the referee was the first person to make physical contact during the confrontation right near the entrance to the ice surface.
The video shows the ref and Bucci arguing with a brief physical confrontation before more words are exchanged and the referee shuts the door.
DiLucente claims “my client was not interview, this video was not reviewed, before charges were filed and numerous witnesses were not interviewed as well.”
He adds he will be working to get the charges thrown out.
