A man in Butler County is accused of trying to demolish his home with an excavator while his wife and children were inside.
According to court records, 48-year-old Erik Pierwsza faces a felony charge of causing a catastrophe, three counts of recklessly endangering another person and a charge of disorderly conduct after the incident on Tuesday.
According to Buffalo Township Police, Pierwsza threated to tear down the house after he was drinking.
Pierwsza and his wife were reportedly going through a separation and he was upset about the marriage being over.
Pierwsza arrived at the home on Martin Road on Tuesday morning and after an argument, threatened to bring the house down.
He then entered an excavator and began bringing down a part of the home while his wife and two daughters were still inside.
They were able to safety leave the house, which sustained significant damage.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 9 in front of Judge Jack Ripper.
