A Pittsburgh area businessman is concerned City Council could ban his horse-drawn carriages.
Michael Wertz has horses on a farm in Cecil Township, Washington County and operates Mike's Carriage Services. He tells The Big K Morning Show that council is telling him how his animals are being abused.
Mertz said he has three horses that work on average one day a week for about four hours during the summer months:
“I’ve been at Station Square since 1998, I’ve been in town for 25 years and they can’t pull up one incident report,” said Mertz.
Wertz says Council member Bruce Kraus' office told him the bill is being re-written to exempt Mike's Carriage Services. He's been given three minutes to speak before council Wednesday.
He says they also told him he won’t be affected because he is licensed.
But, Wertz says he doesn’t have one because the city doesn’t issue them for horse-drawn carriages.
He adds if it’s not going to affect his business why would the bill even need to be added.
