High gas prices and hot weather don't make a good pair.

When it's a hot day, many people understandably reach for the air conditioner in their car. AAA's Jim Garrity says though, doing that too much could send you back to the gas station sooner than you'd hoped.
“It makes the engine work harder; the compressor takes a lot of power from the engine that the gasoline is needed to produce. With that said, you also have to balance that with making sure you’re comfortable and safe inside of the vehicle.”
A few good ways to regulate temperature in your car without the AC is parking in the shade, covering your windshield and using just the windows for the first few minutes after the car is on.
Consumer reports found cars can get dangerously hot, even when temperatures are in the 60's. Studies show a car's internal temperature can become deadly within just one hour.
