Human remains were found Tuesday in Fayette County after law enforcement got a tip about a missing person case.
The remains were found near an abandoned home in North Union Township near Washington Avenue and Hogsett Lane.
Sources say the tip concerning a teenage girl missing since Thanksgiving came from an inmate at the Fayette County Jail.
Uniontown Police have one active case for 17-year-old Kaitlyn Whoolery.
Forensic work will determine the victim's gender and age but it could take longer to identify the remains.
State Police are working with the Uniontown Police Department, Fayette County District Attorney and Coroner.
