If you’re considering adding a furry friend to your home, you may want to act this weekend.

The Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh (HARP) is partnering up with Best Friends Animal Society to waive adoption fees this weekend.

It's part of the sixth National Adoption Weekend.

From Friday through Sunday, HARP is waiving adoption fees for all of the currently adoptable animals, regardless of age.

All animals have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, given their vaccination, along with flea and tick protection and tested for heartworm.

HARP says they have over 200 animals ready for a new home and are dealing with growing number of animals to take care of.

Reasons for the increase is a decrease in adoptions after the pandemic, financial challenges families are facing, spay and neuter services that were stopped during the pandemic and more.

“As an open-door shelter, HARP accepts all animals in need, and provides them with the care they need and the love they deserve,” said Gerry Delon, HARP’s Executive Director. “But we need to find homes for all the deserving animals waiting to be adopted, especially those who may have been with us for quite some time.”

For more information, call 412-345-7300 ext. 215 or email adopt@humaneanimalrescue.org.
HARP adoption hours are Tuesday – Friday Noon – 6 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday Adoption Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Visit to humaneanimalrescue.org/adopt to view available adoptable animals.
