Criminals looking to steal valuables from vehicles, or the vehicles themselves, have been active in Pittsburgh area.
Police in Oakmont and Plum Boroughs say the thieves are looking for guns and valuables like computers in unlocked vehicles and also drive off in a few cars, trucks and SUVs.
Thefts were reported in both communities Wednesday morning and there were similar incidents a few months ago.
In a social media message, Plum police started urging residents back in June to secure their vehicles after a surge in vehicle thefts.
And the message from Oakmont police is the same: Residents should keep their vehicles locked and the key fobs inside their homes.
Similarly, North Fayette Police are reporting three cars were stolen last night in the Hankey Farms area.
All three were left unlocked with the keys inside.
