KDKA Radio Editorial: Independent Voting

One of the basic rights of an American is the right to vote.
But more than one million registered voters can’t do that next month in Pennsylvania.

A state senator says independents should be able to vote in Pennsylvania's closed primary election. He says ignoring the voices of such a large number of voters is "just absolutely wrong."

The commonwealth is one of just nine states that do not allow independent voters to participate in primary elections.

We say that should change.

The percentage of unaffiliated voters is estimated at 50 percent or higher.
