A restaurant and bar off of Route 28 has been ruled “out of compliance” after an inspection on Monday by state officials.
The Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety found 13 total violations during the inspection at The Inn Restaurant & Bar on Freeport Road in Kittanning.
Some of the issues observed, include some dated items in a cooler past seven days. Some of those items include beer cheese made on Sept. 13, gravy with no date, steak and ale soup dated Sept. 10 and other items.
Those items were thrown away voluntarily.
An employee was seen washing dirty dishes, then putting on gloves and working with food without washing hands.
Several items, including shredded cheese, sliced tomatoes, cut lettuce, deli meat, raw chicken and slab bacon in a prep cooler above the save temperature of 41 degrees or lower.
The observed temperature was 53 degrees in the cooler.
“Numerous” live flies were seen in the kitchen, bar and seating areas.
Several boxes/containers of food were seen placed directly on the floor and cooler instead of the required six inches of the floor.
