During a recent press conference with reporters, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald responded to recent comments made by Senator Ted Cruz about the Paris climate agreement and Pittsburgh.
A video of his response was published to Twitter by KDKA TV reporter Chris Hoffman.
Twitter users quickly jumped on the video commenting about the similar appearance Fitzgerald has to Daniels.
User @freekbass wrote “and when they do the movie version of this, definitely cast Jeff Daniels for this gentleman’s part”
Others replied to his comment saying they actually thought it was Jeff Daniels.
On Wednesday, Senator Cruz said in a statement that President Biden is "more interested in the views of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh."
That was a similar sentiment delivered by former president Donald Trump back in 2017.
In the video, Fitzgerald said Cruz's comments were "outrageous." Fitzgerald continued, "He doesn't know what he's talking about. He's been a climate denier. He was a COVID denier. We believe in science around here. Why Senator Cruz thinks he can tell can tell Pittsburgh... we're doing just fine. This is a guy that was really part of the insurrection, part of denial of elections, so I don't think this guy has any credibility. So we'll run what we need to do here, Senator, and keep your nose out of our business."
Fitzgerald isn’t the first to comment. Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto and late night tv show host Seth Meyers both responded as well.
