These are not temperatures we see too often.
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh says we could experience record highs this week.
Monday’s high will be flirting with the record of 95, one that was set in 1875.
“Combine that with relative humidity that is going to be warm and heat indexes are going to be well easily into the 100s and likely over 105 degrees,” Meteorologist Jason Frazier told The Big K Morning Show.
An extreme heat warning remains in effect until at least 8 p.m. Wednesday night.
Tuesday’s high is forecast for 95, Wednesday 91 and Thursday 90 degrees. There won’t be much relief at night, with temps staying in the 70s.
No rain anticipated for the next couple of days.
In addition to an extreme heat warning, it is also a Code Orange day in Western Pennsylvania for air quality.
Light winds and low re-circulation are expected to produce significant ozone concentrations.
Sensitive individuals are advised to limit outdoor activity this afternoon.
Cooling centers in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County will be operating this week as well.
