JCPenney at Beaver Valley Mall set to close this fall

A Beaver County state representative is reacting to news of the pending closure of the JCPenney Store at the Beaver Valley Mall.

The store' last day of operation will be September 17.

State Rep. Josh Kail tells the Big K Morning Show says it's hard to a mall in such a great location, turn into what he calls a “ghost town.”

“It’s centrally located, it’s . . . 15 minutes from the airport, it’s close to Pittsburgh,” said Kail. “It’s on your way to Cleveland and Ohio as well. It’s a good spot, it’s a really good spot and I hope someone has a vision for it.”

Store officials say the Beaver County location is closing due to an expiring lease.

Kail says it might be time for “someone else” to take over the mall

JCPenney filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2020.

“It’s unfortunate because that use to be a great place to hang out,” said Kail.
