Hate waiting in the concession line at your favorite sporting event or concert? The University of Pittsburgh just might have the solution.
After adding the new “Just Walk Out” technology from Amazon to The Market Towers in August, Pitt added a second location at the Peterson Events Center.
Now fans can get their favorite snacks and drinks without waiting in line. Deputy Athletic Director Dustin Gray says, “We are a forward-thinking university as a whole . . . we want to be always progressing with technology and we believe that this gives our fans and customers the best experience possible.”
The technology from Amazon takes customers credit card info upon entry then tracks them to determine who took what from the store.
Students interviewed by the school newspaper in August described the tech as cool and dystopian.
