The father of Karns City football player Mason Martin says his son suffered a setback in his recovery this week.
As the entire region continues to rally behind the Martin family, Mason's father Denny posted to Facebook that his son has been diagnosed with meningitis.
Doctors decided to transfer him back to UPMC Presbyterian from Mercy Hospital for more help.
His father says Mason faces the risk of having at least two more brain surgeries.
He added to his post that he feels Mason is so close to breaking through.
He is not speaking, but he is vocalizing and making small progress.
It's been two months since Mason collapsed during a football game.
Mr. Martin wrote “The fight he shows me every day is beyond words. Please continue to fight with him.”
A GoFundMe campaign is still up for those that want to help support the family.
