KDKA Radio Editorial: Exhausted and confused over face masks

Cities, states, schools and businesses around the US are bringing back mandates after the CDC changed its masking guidance.

Earlier that same day, Governor Tom Wolf told Pennsylvanians the state would not go back to a mask mandate telling us the vaccine was our protection.

The result? People are exhausted and confused.

Many Americans are right to push back. One person summed up the feeling this way on social media: “Oh the irony! I have to mask up to protect people who won’t get vaccinated.”

To those who have gotten their shots, thank you.

It’s the reason our troubles are few at the moment in the Pittsburgh area.

For now, the rate of transmission is moderate, but masks could be called for down the road.

To those who haven’t gotten shots we repeat: COVID vaccines are free, widely available, effective and safe.
