The Steel Curtain roller coaster at Kennywood is still scheduled to reopen this season, but it won’t be ready for opening day.
Kennywood General Manager Rick Spicuzza says columns that were delivered after the park closed for the winter are going up around the coaster and “will help ensure that the Steelers Curtain is around, ready to thrill riders for many years to come.”
After the columns are installed, crews will add the coast trains back on the tracks and test runs will begin, which will be seen by visitors early in the season, which opens April 12.
“Over the past few months, I’ve seen this project come to life, and the wait is almost over, so get ready to go upside down nine times on Pennsylvania’s tallest coaster,” said Spicuzza.
The Steel Curtain is a Steelers-themed coaster and part of the larger “Steelers Country” at Kennywood.
The official opening date is expected soon.
Kennywood’s 2025 season will be the park’s longest in history beginning on “412 Day” with the all-new Eggcellent Celebration.
