Firefighters had a large-scale reptile rescue on their hands after a South Park shelter caught fire Monday.
An Allegheny County Sheriff's deputy was on patrol in the area when he noticed the fire at Nate's Reptile Rescue at Brownsville and McCorkle Roads.
He called fire crews who rescued several of the 100 animals inside.
Allegheny County police say several other animals died.
No one else was hurt. No word on a cause.
