The newest Giant Eagle Market District location opens on Thursday.
The new East Liberty Market District at 6310 Penn Avenue is the seventh specialty Giant Eagle location in the Pittsburgh region.
In addition to the enhanced grocery options, compared to a regular Giant Eagle, the East Liberty Market District will also have an in-store Millie’s Ice Cream Scoop Shop, which will also have coffee options.
The celebrate the grand opening, the first 100 customers at will get a Giant Eagle bag with Market District items and “exclusive offers”.
A ceremonial ribbon-cutting will take place at 10 a.m. with product sampling, free face painting and the Westinghouse High School Band will perform.
The new Market District is open from 7 a.m. through 10 p.m. daily. Pharmacy hours are Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and until 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The grand opening will also feature appearances from the Pirates Parrott, Steely McBeam and Iceburgh along with donations made to First Food & Friends and Food21.
The grand opening celebration will continue through the weekend with former Pirate Michael McKenry, former Steelers QB Charlie Batch and former Penguin Tyler Kennedy appearing on Saturday.
