Lawrenceville Fire: Man Jumps House to Escape Blaze

House fire in Lawrenceville

Two homes went up in flames in Lower Lawrenceville around 12:30 Thursday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 3400 block of Ligonier Street for the fire that quickly developed into three alarms.

Pittsburgh Public Safety says officials had to make a Mayday call for one of the homes after a floor collapsed, but no one was injured.

But, one firefighter was taken to the hospital with a hip injury and another was being treated for minor facial burns.

Two people were inside the home where the fire started. One mane escaped through the top floor/attic area and jumped to a neighboring house.

He was rescued by firefighters using a ladder truck.

The man suffered first-degree burns to his face and second and third-degree burns to his hands. A female was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The American Red Cross is assisting displaced residents and The Salvation Army responded to support residents and first responders.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
