A popular restaurant and bar in Lawrenceville has been ordered closed, temporarily by the Allegheny County Health Department.

Industry Public House also voluntarily closed on Tuesday to have a sewer line replaced

The Health Department received complaints of a sewage smell.

Inspectors say plumbers were seen walking through food storage area and that ice in an ice machine and potatoes, both in the basement where plumbers are working, may have been contaminated.

Roast beef and bacon, that was being prepared in a food preparation area in the basement have also have been exposed to possible contamination.

Another “high risk” violation observed was an employee was seen preparing sliced deli meat without washing their hands.

Sewage was also seen on the floor in front of a beer cooler, with plumbers pumping sewage out of the repair area.

The restaurant also didn’t report the sewage work to the health department, which must be done.

Industry cannot use its water or generate wastewater until the sewage issue is fixed and everything is cleaned up properly.
