Light of Life Rescue Mission will serve hundreds of meals to those in need Friday at their Good Friday Outreach.

The event will take place at the organization's new shelter on Voeghtly St. and their North Ave. shelter.

Director of Development Doug Smith says the new facility allows far more flexibility with these types of events.

"We've been open now for almost two months and the meal ministry experience is totally different and way better for the dignity and worth of those who come in," he said. "We now have seating for up to 88, although that's been cut in half due to COVID restrictions. So, we can serve 44 at a time."

Smith adds the event will follow all masking and social distancing requirements. Those in attendance will also have their temperatures checked.

Along with the organization's dining service, volunteers will also box meals for local high-rises.

Light of Life will serve breakfast at their two locations from 8-10 a.m., followed by lunch from 12-2 p.m. and dinner from 4-6 p.m.

"Within that time we'll have entertainment in our chapel," Smith said. "We'll have a time where there will be an open mic for our clients and guests to share what Easter means to them, and we're just going to do everything we can to love on the men and women and children who come to us."
