The Democratic mayor of Dormont, Jason Walsh, has a warning for his party.

He says here in the Commonwealth, the Democratic party is losing about a thousand registered voters a week to Republicans, as they continue to lose the trust of the American people.

That's why he's written an editorial in the Post-Gazette called "The Democratic Party Needs to Change".

He tells Rob Pratte on KDKA Radio that one of the things they need to do to get back in the game is to connect more with working class people.

“It’s not just union leadership, it’s the rank-and-file that we have to talk to,” said Walsh. “You know, the guy at the barstool next to us, that’s the person that we have to convince. It’s the rank-and-file votes that we need and we need to talk to those people to get their support.”

He adds that public likes winner and today’s Republican Party is one of winners.

“I don’t see a whole lot of winners on the Democratic ticket,” said Walsh who adds his party can’t continue to blame the GOP for all of the problems in the world.

He says if the Dems don't change their ways, they risk going from a 1.2-million registered voter advantage in the state in 2012 to being basically tied with Republicans by the next presidential election.

As of last week, Democrats have only a 190,000 voter advantage in Pennsylvania.
