Local emergency declared, closing bridge in Tarentum

Another bridge in the region is now closed, this time in Tarentum.

The borough announced the immediate closure of the Fourth Avenue Bridge over Bull Creek on Wednesday.

That's because of a sinkhole adjacent to the structure, and a storm sewer line beneath the roadway has collapsed.

Tarentum has declared a local emergency to respond quickly to the situation.

The borough says access to nearby businesses is available by way of Center Street.
