A restaurant in the Pittsburgh area has been ordered closed after an emergency sewage issue.
According to an inspection from the Allegheny County Health Department, an “active sewage backup” was present in the basement of “Cardello Kitchen” on Moon Clinton Road in Moon, PA.
A report said there was “evidence of 100% blockage.” There was also the smell of sewage in the basement and the backup is in three separate drains.
The back up was near a three-bowl sink, upright freezer and a “shelf full of dry goods.”
A total of 13 violations were reported during Monday’s inspection, but 10 of those were considered “low risk”.
The others were “medium risk” with no “high risk” violations reported.
KDKA Radio reached out to Cardello on Tuesday afternoon, but there was no answer.
Any updates made to the inspection will be posted on the ACHD’s website.
