UPDATE: The Consumer Alert for Tri State Snack Foods has been resolved. The Allegheny County Health Department's website now has Italian Pizza Village under Consumer Alert, not closed.
A local pizzeria has been shut down and a consumer alert has been issued for a convenience store.
The Italian Pizza Village in Brentwood is currently ordered closed by the Allegheny Health Department.
There were several “high risk” violations reported.
Several cockroaches were seen in several areas including on the kitchen floor, near a mixing bowl, next to a microwave with dead ones throughout the entire facility.
That is a repeat violation.
They include, a sealed sleeve of ham left in a basement at 58 degrees, food left on a slicer, shelving unites in a walk-in cooler and a cooler had black mold present.
Other violations included some foods at unsafe temperatures. In total, there were 14 violations reported.
In Marshall-Shadeland, Tri State Snack Foods was issued a consumer alert after inspectors saw an active roof leak, improper wastewater disposal, plumbing issues and no Certified Food Protection Manager present.
The Italian Village Pizza closure was posted on December 20 and Tri State on December 19.
As of December 21, both issues are still active.
