Hampton Township is mourning the loss of one of its long-time police officers.
Police Chief Thomas Vulakovich announced on Wednesday that Sergeant Robert Kirsopp has died.
Kirsopp was battling cancer. He was only in his early 50s.
He had been with Hampton Police since the late-1990s when he became one of the first part-time police officers for Hampton.
He was promoted sergeant in 2014 after six years working as a detective.
Kirsopp is a Canon-McMillian High School and IUP alum. He leaves behind a wife and three children.
“At this time we would ask that you keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers,” Chief Vulakovich said in a Facebook post. “He enriched the lives of all who knew him and will truly be missed.”
