We’re saddened to learn about the passing of long-time KDKA Radio caller Richard Busby of Mt. Oliver.
Listeners will know him better by the name he used when he called in, “Smacky the Clown”.
Busby died on Monday at the age of 85.
He had five children, 12 grandchildren and “numerous great grandchildren”.
Busby served in the US Navy and was a member of the VFW.
He was also a member of the Tri River Clowns for over 50 years.
A viewing is taking place Friday afternoon from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Readshaw Funeral Home Inc. on Brownsville Road in Carrick.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Christ Community Church on Chartiers Avenue in McKees Rocks.
He will be buried at the National Cemetery of The Alleghenies with full military honors at a later time.
More information, including how to donate in his memory can be found here.
“Smacky” was a long-time caller into shows like the Undercover Club with Bob Logue and recently still called into the Kuhn’s Cooking Hour on weekends.
We appreciate “Smacky’s” years of listening to KDKA Radio. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.
