Plenty of rain coming, but serious flooding not a concern in Pittsburgh

With two and half to three inches of rain forecast into the weekend, there are concerns about flooding around the Pittsburgh area.

National Weather Service meteorologist Tim Cermak tells the Big K Morning Show there is a change the Ohio River near Point State Park could flood.

The Mon Warf could also be under water “if some of the heavier rain ends up coming through the area, especially on Saturday,” said Cermak.

He says the good news is that most of the rain is coming in waves, so the breaks in between the rain will certainly help.

“For the most part, ponding on shoulders and in low spots, ditches, that’s really all we are expecting,” added Cermak.

Temperatures will be in the mid-60s to low 70s through Saturday with the sun expected to come back out on Sunday and Monday with a high near 70 on March 9.
