2 years since Lucky the dog was taken during a carjacking

Wednesday marks two years since an elderly veteran was carjacked with his beloved dog was left inside.

Since September 23, 2024 Willard Martz has only wanted to reunite with his friend Lucky and local organizers are still looking.

IT happened when Martz was parked outside the East Huntingdon Tractor Supply before 9 a.m. when Kenneth Crider took the car with Lucky inside.

Crider was later found in North Carolina and is servicing up to 10 years behind bars for a series of crimes.

Crider was vague when asked about Lucky’s whereabouts, but Tracy Mooney Ruffner, who runs the Bring Lucky HOME to PA, says the continue to hope for a miracle.

“we are STILL looking, have followed every lead, sent thousands of flyers, placed hundreds of newspaper ads, contacted every vet and shelter we could find between PA and SC, spoke with animal control, police and fire depts up and down the area, visited Crider in jail, sent a team to many different locations to search, and enlisted the help of people in many, many states….14.5k people strong and not giving up,” said Ruffner.

Lucky could be with a new family and they new owners may not know that he was a lost dog.

They believe Lucky could be anywhere between Pennsylvania and South Carolina, is now 12-years-old and weighed 60-pounds when taken.

He is also microchipped.

While Bring Lucky HOME to PA has transformed into a place for other people looking for other lost dogs, Ruffner says they are still holding out hope that someone knows where Lucky is.
