A man and a woman are accused of robbing a dozen bars in several counties in 2023.
David Rice and Stephanie Hankle allegedly targeted bars in Washington, Westmoreland and Fayette counties including: The Darkhorse Saloon, Coal Hill Tavern and The Watering Hole.
State police say after the bars closed Hankle would drop off Rice who broke in to steal cash, money bags, coins, proceeds from poker machines, an ATM and alcohol.
“They would start kind of eyeing up the bars and seeing, maybe some of the weaknesses or this back door is always propped open or . . . the bar closes at 2 but they close up at 1,” Pennsylvania State Trooper Rocco Gagliardi tells KDKA Radio.
Authorities say Rice and Hankle stole more than $17,000 in cash and alcohol and caused $8,000 in damage at the 12 bars.
