Man arrested, accused of starting damaging Etna fire

Police have filed charged against a man they stay intentionally started a damaging fire in Etna Tuesday.

Allegheny County Police say 74-year-old Elmer Lewis, who lives inside one of the apartments affected by the fire has been charged with arson and other crimes.

Fire crews were dispatched just after 11:40 a.m. to 86 Vilsack Street.

The fire spread to neighboring homes.

While fighting the fire, crews say an explosion happened in a nearby garage and a flying door hit a fire truck.

One person was treated for minor injuries and one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.

In addition to arson, Lewis faces charges of causing or risking a catastrophe and criminal mischief.

He was transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
