Man arrested after firing shots into North Fayette hotel ceiling

A man arrested Tuesday night in North Fayette Township is accused of firing a shotgun into the ceiling of a hotel room.

Police were called to a spa not far from Extended Stay America around 5:30 p.m. where a man with a gun was reportedly inside.

Arriving officers say Levi Barela handed over a loaded shotgun and admitted to firing five or six rounds into the ceiling of his hotel room because he believed federal agents were trying "to neutralize him."

Barela told police he then reloaded the shotgun and went to the spa to tell his fiancé what happened.

The gunfire at the hotel broke some water lines, some ceilings collapsed and the building was condemned.

Barela was taken to Western Psych and is facing several charges.
