A shooting suspect is now in custody after a lengthy police standoff in Westmoreland County.
The district attorney's office says a man, identified as 21-year-old Jay Eleam, barricaded inside a home on Leeds Avenue around 4:30 a.m. when officers tried to serve a search warrant.
Police say Eleam was hiding in an attic with a possible gun.
After Eleam refused to leave, the standoff ensued until he left the residence and was taken into custody around 9 a.m.
Eleam is a suspect in a shooting near the intersection of Leeds and Marion avenues last night around 11 p.m.
The victim is expected to survive.
The victim’s girlfriend told police that she and Eleam got into an argument over the phone and Eleam told the victim and his girlfriend to come to his residence.
After arriving at the home on Leeds Avenue, police say gunfire was exchanged between the victim and Eleam.
The victim was shot in the forehead and driven to a Pittsburgh-area hospital.
