A 41-year-old man being held in the Allegheny County Jail died early this morning.

Warden Trevor Wingard says the unidentified man was brought to the jail Thursday night, just before 6:45 p.m., on charges of resisting arrest and prohibited acts.

He was sent to a hospital around 9:20 p.m. returning just before 1 a.m. Friday.

He then experienced a medical emergency waiting for his arraignment Friday morning.

Lifesaving measures by paramedics were unsuccessful and he was declared deceased just before 6:20 Friday morning.

There will now be an internal review of the death and a County Police investigation.
