Man guilty of Dormont hit-and-run pleads guilty to being in U.S. illegally

The man who pleaded guilty to a hit and run in Dormont last year has also now pleaded guilty to being in the United States illegally.

The September 21, 2024 accident claimed the life of motorcyclist Christian Sluka.

He was struck by the intersection of Pioneer and West Liberty Avenues in Dormont.

The next day, 25-year-old Saul Ramirez-Rivera was taken into custody and it was determined he was in the country illegally and had been deported in 2019.

Earlier this year, he was sentenced to two to four years after pleading guilty to homicide by vehicle and other charges.

Now Ramirez-Rivera has pleaded guilty in Federal Court to illegal re-entry and has been sentenced to 14 months in prison.

Prosecutors say once he's served time he will again be deported.
