A man is in police custody after a SWAT situation in Harrison Township early Tuesday morning.

Police in Harrison Township were trying to serve an involuntary commitment order at a home on Linden Street when officers encountered a man with a knife just before 1:30 a.m.

He barricaded himself inside the home and Allegheny County Police were notified for assistance.

After an encounter with the man, armed with multiple knives, the SWAT team was called.

After more negotiations, an irritant was deployed into the home. That forced the man outside, who ran at officers, armed with multiple knives.

He was hit with bean bag rounds and a taser and taken into custody around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

47-year-old Lonny Pittman was arrested at the scene and faces multiple charges of aggravated assault of an officer and resisting arrest.
