A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday evening.
Police were called around 5 p.m. to the 100 block of Hyman Place in the Hill District where a security guard spotted a man in his 30s with a gun during a routine patrol.
The security guard said the man pointed the weapon at him and fled the area.
A short time later, officers found the man hiding behind a dumpster near Wylie Avenue.
Police say he was told to drop the gun multiple times as he walked towards the officers and one of them opened fire.
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at a hospital.
An officer is on leave and county police are investigating the shooting.
