Man shot dead, woman suffers 'significant' injures following incident in Banksville

A man is dead and a woman suffered significant injuries after an incident in Banksville Thursday morning.

Pittsburgh Police say officers responded to a residence in the 2600 block of Winchester Drive just after 9:45 a.m. for reported of a woman that had been assaulted.

Police found a woman with "significant facial lacerations/injuries" inside the home. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

During a sweep of the home, police found the man on the second floor with a gunshot wound to the head. He was declared dead at the scene.

No other information is available at this time as an investigation continues.
