At approximately 6:30 a.m., Friday morning, the City of Washington Police officers responded to the 10 block of Oak Street at the request of the Pennsylvania State Police following a report that a person had been shot.
The person was reportedly shot by Troopers while they were serving a warrant.
Washington Mayor JoJo Burgess confirmed that the man who was shot—as police were serving a warrant—was his 22-year-old, hearing-impaired cousin. At this time, it is not clear what happened and why they were serving the warrant.
“From what I've heard, I'm hoping that there's a thorough investigation because, again, this isn't the first time that there's been operations with this individual. Nothing like this has ever happened before. This person is someone that can't even leave the house. So, for this to be the outcome, there's a lot of questions that need to be answered very quickly.” said Mayor JoJo Burgess
We are still waiting to learn more about the cousin's condition and what led to the shooting
