A man was arrested after taking to the frozen Allegheny River to escape police.
Pittsburgh Police say the man was trespassing on the former Veterans Affairs site on the 7100 block of Highland Drive around 1 p.m.
He was found inside the property and fled on foot, traveling to Allegheny River Boulevard where he went onto the River.
He was arrested around 4 p.m. in the 2600 block of Freeport Road in Harmar Township and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
