Two men, including one with five active arrest warrants, were arrested during a traffic stop in Hazelwood Monday night.
The Allegheny County sheriff's office says deputies pulled a car over after they allegedly saw the driver roll through two stop signs.
The car's registration had been revoked, and the driver's license had been suspended.
Six people were inside the car, where deputies say they also allegedly smelled marijuana.
21-year-old Dijuan Taylor was asked to get out of the car and allegedly tried to run, when a gun fell from him.
He and 20-year-old Preston Hemingway were taken into custody. Hemingway also allegedly had a gun without a permit.
“This was good work in the midst of a potentially dangerous situation,” said Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus.
“Any illegal weapon that my deputies and all law enforcement can get off the streets is important to the safety
of the community.”
Police say Taylor had five active warrants, including for felony robbery.
