Oakmont native Marc Fogel, held in Russia since 2021, has been freed.

An emotional Anne Fogel, Marc’s sister, gave her first reaction to Colin Dunlap on KDKA Radio.

She expressed her excitement and gratitude for her brother’s release.

“Thank you so much Colin, I can’t even explain the crazy excitement that we are all feeling, “Anne said on behalf of her family.

While she is overjoyed, she says the last week has been difficult.

“Just waiting and waiting,” said Anne. “He was moved . . . last Wednesday and we haven’t heard from him and we were getting texts from different Russians and it was just a crazy ride, so we are thrilled.”

She's says this is the perfect gift for her mom, Malphine Fogel, who will celebrate her 96th birthday on March 11.

Anne says the past three and a half years has been extremely stressful on Malphine.

Anne also expressed her appreciation for local politicians and the Trump administration for not giving up on her brother and getting him back into the United States.
